During the years of Indian resistance to the government policies of the United States, Sitting Bull led his people as a tribal chief. The Battle of the Little Bighorn developed Sitting Bull to be the most important of all Native American chiefs. Sitting Bull attracted many Native Americans recruits to his camp for both security in numbers and his generosity. He recruited an estimate of 10,000 people.
